Sports Center Staff

LOCATION: 96 Sports Club Drive, Bolton Valley, VT 05477

This position runs from the end of November through the beginning of April.

Job Summary:  Provide drinks and snacks to guests in the upper area of the Sports Center, while adhering to DLC rules and regulations and maintaining an overall pleasant environment for the guests. Oversee public spaces throughout the facility including the skate bowl, field house, lounge and pool areas, restrooms and locker rooms.  Sell day and season passes to guests, run the cash register to sell all tickets and retail products, while keeping a neat clean area.  Provide general information to guests and help orient guests to what’s available at the center – both indoor and outdoor offerings.

Essential Functions:  

  • Provide excellent customer service for guests of the Sports Center and those using the pool and lounge area, skate bowl, exercise equipment, and field house.
  • Make sure people using the facility have the appropriate day or season pass to do so and sell it to them if not.
  • Make drinks for guests and monitor potential guest intoxication to prevent the over-serving of alcohol.  Check ID’s for all guests who do not appear to be over 30.
  • Side work, such as cleaning tables, vacuuming, and maintaining general appearance of the facility at the beginning and end of each shift to make sure all public areas are ready to go for the next shift
  • Restock food and beverage displays at end of each shift
  • Monitor cleanliness of lounge area and other public spaces including restrooms, locker rooms, pool area, and field house.
  • Assist in the overall cleanliness and functionality of the BC and Nordic Sports Center
  • Provide support to maintenance staff, including pool and hot tub maintenance
  • Help with Backcountry and Nordic center when necessary, including selling rental and retail items and trail passes, while presenting guests with opportunities for purchasing additional Bolton Valley products and services.

NOTE:  All Bolton Valley employees are required to perform alternate functions from time to time, both within and outside of their assigned department, particularly during peak periods such as holiday weekends. 

Customer Service Expectations:  With extensive customer contact, must be helpful, friendly, courteous and professional in accordance with Bolton’s commitment to providing superior customer service.   

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma
  • Previous bar or f&b work a strong preference but not a requirement, as employee can be trained  
  • Friendly, outgoing personality
  • Previous customer service experience preferred
  • Previous cash handling experience preferred
  • Pool maintenance experience is helpful
  • Experience with backcountry or Nordic skiing or riding, fatbiking, or snowshoeing preferred

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of wine and beer
  • Ability to operate POS system to ring in orders
  • Valid proof of DLC certification prior to employment, or willingness and ability to attend DLC certification course

Physical and Mental Demands:  Requires prolonged periods of standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs. High noise levels and crowded spaces during busy time.  Occasional snow shoveling and moving of ski racks

Work Environment:  Most work is performed indoors, but some occasional outdoor work, such as snow shoveling, may be required.  Outdoor work is performed in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, wind and rain, on varied snow surfaces.
