Birth Love Tribe presents Birth Love Family Fest being held October 7, 2017 in Bolton, Vermont. The festival is a first of its kind and celebrates Vermont’s birth and family culture with musical performance, educational workshops, support circles, a breastfeeding room, and a full day of kids’ activities. Presenters and performers include Myra Flynn, Susan Cline Lucey from Burlington’s Evolution Prenatal and Family Yoga Center, and Seny Daffe and the West African drum and dance community. The gathering brings together local birth and family professionals with expecting parents and young families throughout Central Vermont and the Burlington areas.

The festival is a dynamic community platform aimed at supporting families to make informed decisions on birthing and raising children in Vermont. Birth Love Tribe is the presenting organization and serves as a platform for building community around the topic of holistic birthing and parenting methods.

The gathering offers unique opportunities for participants. Myra Flynn will present a workshop on songs for families that includes a rare and intimate acoustic performance. Susan Cline Lucey will teach yoga for pre- and postnatal mothers, and the Bolton Valley ski resort will offer a family yoga session. Dr. Matt Rushford will read from his newest book, “Born Broken: De-Pathologizing the Human Condition”. Kipp Bovey, CNM (Copley Hospital), Laureli Morrow, CNM (Gifford Hospital), and Rachel Stadfeld, CD (Labor Doula) will educate on birthing.

Maris Rose (Maris’ Tree House at All Souls Interfaith Gathering) will educate on parenting mindfully. Jessica Barquist (Let’s Grow Kids) will offer an experiential workshop on brain science training for early childhood development. The private breastfeeding room will hold a Q&A with Vicki Rich, IBCLC. The festival will also host intimate support circles facilitated by mental health professionals on birth, fatherhood, LGBTQ & family, and grief and loss. Lastly, the gathering features a community celebration on the transition into motherhood.

Additionally, Birth Love Family Fest features a full day of kids’ activities including music, yoga, games, arts and crafts, nature walks, and a bounce house provided by SunCommon. Local businesses, organizations, and non-profits will provide information and services to enhance the family experience. An organic cafe will be available for lunch, with an after party at Bolton Valley’s Fireside Flatbread featuring live music by Conscious Roots alongside a kids’ dance party for dinner.

The event offers a low-income program whereby at-risk and low-income families may attend at no cost. Meals are provided for qualified families.
