Bolton Valley Enjoying Best Conditions Of The Season So Far
Resort records best January in four yearsBOLTON VALLEY, VT (2/8/2015) -
Ski areas often measure new snow in inches, but lately, Bolton Valley Resort has been measuring in feet. As New England continues to benefit from the wave-after-wave of powerful winter storms in 2015, the resort currently boasts some of the best snow conditions in the country. Skiers and riders have enjoyed eight-and-a-half feet of snow since January 1, including over two feet of new snow in the last three days, three feet in the past week and five feet since January 24.
"It's been an outstanding couple of weeks," said Josh Arneson, Director of Sales and Marketing. "To have the best January in four seasons and then roll that momentum right into February, it's been awesome. Conditions are tremendous all over the mountain right now and we're expecting more accumulation through next week too."
With a total of 176" of snow so far this season, and more coming in the next 48 hours, Bolton is 100 percent open on all three mountain faces and well-ahead of its annual snowfall pace. January brought five-and-a-half feet of snow, making it the snowiest January in four years and February has already brought another three feet of additional accumulation. Groomed trails are soft and fun to edge, expert terrain is steep and deep and the 100km of Nordic and backcountry is in fantastic shape.
Bolton Valley was the first in Vermont and the second in the U.S. to implement wind power as an energy source and is the recipient of the National Ski Areas Association’s 2010 Silver Eagle Award for environmental initiatives. Approximately 100km of high elevation Nordic terrain, a complete Sports Center and Indoor Amusement Center plus Vermont’s most extensive top-to-bottom night skiing and riding are just a few of the extras available to guests.
