Calling All Rock Stars and Musicians: Bolton Valley Hosts Pond Skimming Saturday, March 24, a Spring Skiing and Riding Rite of Passage

BOLTON VALLEY, VT (3/15/2012) -

Spring skiing and riding wouldn’t be complete without a skim across the pond, which is what all rocks stars, musicians and wanna-bes will attempt to do at Bolton Valley on Saturday, March 24. This year’s pond skimming event, the biggest party of Bolton’s season and a celebration of spring, is dedicated to “Rock Stars and Musicians,” so Bolton officials are expecting a lot of air guitar, drums and costumes skimming across and out of the pond in the hopes of not getting wet themselves.

Pond skimming takes place on a man-made pond created especially for the event, Competitors, fueled only by gravity, technique and the desire to stay dry, will attempt to skim across the pond for special prizes and awards. The entry fee is $5/skimmer and participants must have a lift ticket for the day or a season pass to enter. Registration is from 10 a.m. – Noon with skimming beginning at 1 p.m. The awards ceremony is at 3 p.m. and a 2012-13 All Access Season Pass will be awarded to one adult and one youth participant, each who must have an outstanding costume and a solid skim. A great spectator event as well, music and good spring vibes round out the festivities.
