Living the Dream—Bolton Valley Offers New Ski Bum Pass For Ages 18-25

BOLTON VALLEY, VT (8/14/2014) -

For decades, high school graduates, college students and young professionals have dreamed of living the mountain life—of finding ways to successfully ski or ride as many days as possible while “paying the bills” and living life in the mountain community. For those ages 18-25, the folks at Bolton Valley Ski Resort, a local Vermont favorite for skiing and riding, have created the new Ski Bum Pass for the 2014-2015 winter season, which starts at just $129.

The pass makes it easy for those in their late teens and early 20s to enjoy the best parts of being a ski bum while simultaneously starting their career or completing their education. Bolton Valley is open seven days a week in season, is the closest major ski area to Burlington and is open for night skiing four days a week, making it easy to maximize time on the slopes while working or going to school.

“The new Ski Bum Pass is simply a way for this young generation to find their friends—find themselves—in a mountain community in their own backyard,” said Josh Arneson, director of sales and marketing for Bolton Valley. “For Ski Bum Pass holders, our Bolton Valley neighborhood is like coming home.”

Young skiers and riders typically have the responsibility of paying off student loans and college tuition or are just starting out in their professional careers, trying to establish themselves in the workforce. Going to school, paying back debt or working for entry-level salaries can make it tough to find the time or money for skiing and riding. Bolton Valley is just 30 minutes from Burlington and offers the convenience of skiing after work or class at the only major ski area in Vermont to offer top-to-bottom night skiing and riding.

This generation can ski or ride with the Ski Bum All Access Pass for just $159 if purchased by Oct. 31. There are no blackout dates with this pass, allowing ski bums to make turns whenever they want, as much as they want. A Ski Bum Value Pass also is available for $129 if purchased by Oct. 31 and is valid every day of the 2014-2015 season except Saturdays. After the Oct. 31 deadline, prices increase to $269 for the Ski Bum All Access Pass and $239 for the Value Pass.

“Many of us who work in the ski industry started out seeking that ski bum lifestyle just like Millennials do today; that hasn’t changed,” said Arneson. “In a way, we have extended our youth pricing to anyone ages 18-25, so regardless of their ‘place’ in the world—whether in college, just out of college or in the workforce—skiing and riding is still affordable.” Being between ages 18-25 is the only requirement to purchase the pass (i.e. one doesn’t need to be a full-time college student or provide a letter from the registrar), making it easier and more convenient for more skiers and riders.
