Frigid Infliction

Date: Mar 4 2017

The Outdoor Gear Exchange's Frigid Infliction is returning to Bolton Valley on Saturday March 4, 2017.

Frigid Infliction is a 8-hour winter adventure race for teams of two or three. We use an accelerated cutoff system which allows us to really challenge experienced teams while providing a great race for the first timers. If you have never done an adventure race before, this is the perfect one to start with. This was the first adventure race for about a third of the participants the past four years, so don't be intimidated!

Disciplines: This year's race will feature the following

  • Navigation with topographical map and compass
  • Snowshoeing
  • Cross country skiing
  • Perhaps a surprise - time will tell!

This year’s race you’ll have quite a bit of control over the balance between skiing and snowshoeing. You’ll have to do some of both for sure, but you’ll have more control than ever before as to how much and where. Mysterious? Yes!

One bonus – in 2017 you will not have to carry your skis at any time! They’ll either be on your feet or in a safe spot. You’re welcome.

Cost for The Frigid Infliction 2017

  • Early registration: +$75 per racer
  • Jan 9th or later: +$93 per racer
  • Feb 6th or later, full price: +$111 per racer

Have you always wanted to dip your toes into winter adventure without submerging your entire boot in a frozen stream? You're not alone!

New for 2017, GMARA presents Test Your Nettle, a chance to get your feet wet without fully diving in to an adventure race. It'll be shorter, cheaper, and require less gear than the Frigid Infliction - but it'll be on the same day with some course overlap. Teams from both events will gather at the post-race dinner so everyone can swap stories afterwards.  Check out gmara.org/nettle/ for lots more information.
