Bolton Valley in the Summer
Nestled high in an alpine valley in the heart of the Green Mountains, Bolton Valley is a relaxing getaway any time of the year. In the winter thousands of people flock to Bolton Valley to enjoy the many alpine activities offered at the resort such as skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing and snowshoeing. In the summer Bolton Valley switches gears and slows down a bit. The tranquil, wilderness landscape turns from white to green, creeks flow and birds can be heard from early morning to late in the afternoon. The sunsets that skiers enjoy from the Cobrass Cafe during spring skiing are just as spectacular all summer; while the cool mountain air offers a much needed relief from the summer heat. You can also cool off in one of the several swimming holes found in Joiner Brook alongside the access road.
With Bolton Valley's 5000 acres of pristine wilderness hikers are never at a loss for a good trail. Whether you explore the trails on the alpine resort or hike on our narrow backcountry trails; good views and a peaceful time in the woods is easy to find. The famous state-long Long Trail travels the ridge line atop our backcountry trails and a stop at Harington's View is a must for an afternoon lunch.
We host several weddings throughout the summer at The Ponds, a beautiful Adirondack style venue set on a spring fed mountain pond overlooking Camel's Hump and the Green Mountains. You will also see the Michelin Driving school in full operation around the mountain in the summer, conducing skid testing in the Timberline parking lot and off road testing on the mountain.
Centrally located to Burlington and Waterbury, Bolton Valley is an ideal place to stay while exploring the natural beauty of northern Vermont. There are several worthwhile attractions within a half hour drive of Bolton Valley such as the Ben and Jerry's Factory, Shelburne Museum, Vermont Teddy Bear Factory and beautiful Lake Champlain to explore while you are here. Dining, live music venues, museums and special events abound in Burlington and the surrounding communities. Best of all, when you are done exploring you can retreat to the Bolton Valley for a comfortable evening in the cool mountain air.
