You will start the week playing some games and getting to know each another. As you move through the week building momentum, you’ll learn how to work together and support each other through some challenging activities. Later in the week, you will begin to move onto the High Elements. The camp week will culminate with everyone having an opportunity to take a ride on our Giant Swing. Our Giant Swing is an amazing experience – you won’t want to miss it!

Low Elements:

Our Low Elements will challenge the group to work together to accomplish a task. These tasks may vary from balancing a large teeter-totter, to walking across cables that are set two feet off the ground, over a large peanut butter pit! We will spend a full day working on these challenges. Our success on the Low Elements will help the group learn to support each other in many different ways through the rest of the week.

High Elements:

BAC’s High Elements are set 30 to 40 feet off the ground and are a place for individuals to challenge themselves beyond their comfort level. When on the High Elements, participants will always have a harness and helmet on and be clipped into a safety rope. These elements include challenges like walking across a wobbly bridge or cable, jumping off a pole to try and touch a ball suspended in front of you and, of course, our Giant Swing. You’ll even have an opportunity to take a ride on our 300 ft Zip-Line!

Orienteering:

Learn to read a topographical map, and understand all of its features. Then, looking at the surrounding mountains and topography, we will be able to find our exact location. We will then teach participants how to use a compass and why it is important to know these skills. After mastering the skills of taking and reading bearings, we will move onto a smaller orienteering course where participants will find their way from marker to marker using their compasses. The final test will be to find your way through the larger, and more challenging orienteering course, where you’ll test your skills to the limit!

Hiking:

Take a hike up the mountain on the trails that you may have skied in the winter. Once at the peak, we will check out one of the few remaining fire towers left in Vermont. From this point on a clear day, you should be able to see the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and the Adirondacks of New York, as well as look north and south along the spine on the Green Mountains.
