Job Summary:  The Terrain ParkGroomer operates a snow cat to groom the snow surfaces of the terrain park and provide guests with a safe and enjoyable skiing and riding surface.

 Essential Functions: 

  • Operate heavy equipment (groomer) to groom terrain park to acceptable and safe skiing/riding conditions
  • Log daily tasks at the end of the shift, noting unusual circumstances and potential safety issues
  • Visually inspect equipment and address any maintenance issues (fluid levels, etc.) prior to use
  • Address simple equipment malfunctions as needed while grooming, and notify supervisor and/or vehicle maintenance crew of more serious mechanical functions

 NOTE:  All Bolton Valley employees are required to perform alternate functions from time to time, both within and outside of their assigned department, particularly during peak periods such as holiday weekends.

Customer Service Expectations:  Groomers do not have much direct customer contact, but when they do, must be helpful, friendly, courteous and professional in accordance with Bolton’s commitment to providing superior customer service.        

 Qualifications:  3-5 years of experience operating heavy equipment.  To groom the terrain park, must have previous terrain park grooming experience.  Valid driver’s license required.

 Required Knowledge and Skills:  Some mechanical aptitude for simple repairs and inspections.  If grooming the terrain park, must know the characteristics that skiers/riders are looking for in a terrain park, and have familiarity with terrain park design.

 Physical and Mental Demands:  Requires long periods of sitting in the cab of a snow cat, focusing on the task at hand.  Eyestrain and fatigue may result from driving in bad weather conditions and flat light.  Some bending, twisting and lifting (up to 50 lbs.) outside the cab is necessary to address mechanical issues or clear ice from the windshield.

 Work Environment:  The snow cat cab is heated.  Work outside the cab is performed in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, wind and rain, on varied snow surfaces.
