4th Annual Get Out and Backcountry Ski Festival

Date: Jan 22 2012

The Catamount Trail Association(CTA) will host its 4th Annual Get Out and Backcountry Ski Festival on January 22, 2012 at Bolton Valley. This unique and popular event is designed to give the beginner to intermediate backcountry skier the knowledge and skills necessary to comfortably explore winter wilderness areas on skis. Participants will learn from expert instructors who will teach a wide range of techniques and safety procedures necessary to feel comfortable in the backcountry. Skiers will have the opportunity to improve everything from the classic telemark turn to maneuvering capabilities in unbroken powder. Instruction will also be available for those skiers who specialize in AT gear.

Local ski shops will have a wide range of skis and boots available for participants who wish to try out the latest in backcountry equipment. The day’s activities will include one technique session in the morning followed by a backcountry tour/technique session in the afternoon and a lecture on safety and equipment. The day will culminate with an après ski party and a multi-media presentation by David Goodman, author of the Best of Backcountry Skiing In The East. The clinic includes instruction, trail pass, demo equipment tryouts, and après ski food and drinks.

For more information or sign up for the event, visit CatamountTrail.org or call the CTA office at 802-864-5794 to register. Skiers must register by January 19th for this event.
