Job Summary:  The Controller oversees all aspects of the Accounting Department as well as all Cash Room Operations.


Essential Functions: 

  • Supervise approximately 2-4 people
  • Oversee all accounting and cash room activities
  • Audit/review daily revenues from all outlets
  • Review and distribute daily revenue reports to resort management
  • Audit daily revenue postings to the general ledger
  • Oversee cash flow; update weekly cash flow forecast for weekly executive review
  • Review bank balance, outstanding checks, and available cash balance weekly with the President
  • Manage accounts payable balance and payment selection on a timely basis
  • Weekly posting of bank activity
  • Weekly review/post of Cost Of Goods and accruals entries
  • Prepare, analyze, and distribute weekly financial reports to resort management with accuracy
  • Balance sheet account reconciliations review, and signoff on monthly basis
  • Review accounts receivable for SMS/Sirius – follow up/ resolution
  • Prepare and file monthly Sales, Rooms, Meals, and Alcohol tax returns on a timely basis
  • Work with President to forecast resort budgets
  • Perform annual insurance audits with outside firms
  • Prepare, complete, and assist with annual tax compilation for outside tax firm
  • Oversee credit card chargeback research and resolution
  • Assist President and Owner(s) with other accounting related activities as needed



NOTE:  All Bolton Valley employees are required to perform alternate functions from time to time, both within and outside of their assigned department, particularly during peak periods such as holiday weekends.

Qualifications:  College Degree in Accounting and 5 years of equivalent accounting experience, 3-5 years experience as a controller required.  Experience in the resort industry preferred.


Required Knowledge and Skills:   

  • Proficient in QuickBooks and Excel (required)
  • Knowledge of SMS and Sirius softwares (desired)
  • Excellent Written and  Oral Communication Skills
  • Good Leadership Skills
  • Strong Analytical Skills
  • Strong Focus on Accuracy and attention to detail is a must
  • Strong time management is a must
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work with and communicate with all levels of management.
  • Must be a team player and be willing to work multiple jobs outside of the Accounting Office.



Physical and Mental Demands:  Some long periods of sitting and working at a computer and on the phone.  Must be able to work in various resort positions (inside and outside) for long periods of time.


Work Environment:  Work is performed in all areas of the resort (inside and outside). The primary job is performed indoors in a climate controlled environment.
