Mild Sorry, sold out
This group is for those looking to start backcountry skiing or splitboarding, or those who need a refresher. In the morning we will cover the basics of the equipment and how to properly and efficiently use it, including climbing skins, touring bindings, boots, skis, and split boards. Then we will cover some of the basics of backcountry travel, safety, and other necessary and useful equipment – to include preparation, layering, route selection, snow safety, and general environmental awareness. In the late morning into the afternoon, the group will head out for a tour to apply what they learned! While you do not need backcountry experience for this group, you do need to be a strong skier or snowboarder to join us on our tour/on hill portion.
Medium Sorry, sold out
For strong skiers with previous backcountry experience. This group is ideal for those who are strong riders and skiers with some backcountry experience, but like catching their breath or taking in the scenery now and again. This will be an about 3hour tour into the backcountry, and then multiple laps, with the goal of showing you some of the Terrain in Bolton Valley’s Backcountry including skinning back to the BC Tent and Bryant Lodge.
Spicy Sorry, sold out
Adults only. This group is for experienced backcountry skiers only. Must have the skills and confidence to handle any terrain obstacles in all snow conditions, and ability be self-supported in the woods for 6 hours. This group will head right out in the morning with the mindset of ‘go’ and the goal to see and ski as much as possible in the backcountry. The participants should be ready for a full day of touring and skiing or riding in the backcountry, so make sure to bring all the layers, food, water, and any other supplies that you’ll need for the day with minimal stops.
Bolton Valley has a full fleet of top-of-the-line alpine touring and splitboarding demo gear available onsite for rental. If you’re splitboarding, you can use your own boots, or rent ours. In either case, if you plan to rent gear, please arrange to do so in advance so that we are sure we can accommodate all those who need gear. If you have reserved rental gear for the day, please make sure to get here a bit early, so you’ll have time to get fit for rental gear before things get going. Demo backpacks, helmets, and goggles are also available for use by participants, though in more limited numbers, so if you’re looking for those, try to get here earlier.
So come on out and see all that the Bolton Valley Backcountry has to offer, in a friendly, casual setting and learn from other women who have amazing experience and expertise to share. Whether you’re looking to learn about backcountry skiing and riding, or be shown some of the best backcountry stashes in the state, you’ll have the opportunity at Bolton Valley’s “Babes in the Woods” women’s clinics this winter!
