Cancelled: Ski The East Backyard Bash

March 14

Unfortunately, this event has been cancelled… but we intend to give it another go next year!

—–

If you come to the ticket window rocking Ski The East gear (more than a sticker) OR come with the registration to your Subaru you get a lift ticket discounted to $60 (normally $80 on non-peak Saturdays). Come with both and pay only $45 at the window!

Looking forward to throwing down with our good friends at Ski The East who always bring the noise!

It promised to be a full on mountain party with events, prizes, and yes… a healthy dose of après. In addition to the list below Ski The East will have a Pop-Up shop on the first floor of the lodge selling their gear at 30% OFF & a ski demo with K2 New England happening out on the snow. Our friends at Long Trail Brewing will have tastings offered on the deck and word on the street is the bar will have plenty of Ski The East Mountain IPA cans for sale. Here’s what’s on tap for the day… Our good friends at Catamount Trail Association and Vermont Huts Association will have a tent set up in the base area as well – two really great organizations doing fabulous work, if you’re not familiar. We here at Bolton Valley strongly encourage you to consider becoming a member of each, if you’re not already.

9am – Backcountry Tour – Meet @ the tents between the main base lodge and the Vista/Mid Mountain lifts and then join the STE and perhaps some of the fine folks of Catamount Trail Assoc, VT Huts Assoc and the Bolton Valley Backcountry Program for a light tour up the new backcountry warming tent. If you need to rent AT gear for the day, you can get set up with some sweet Dynafit AT Skis at the Bolton Valley Backcountry Center which is housed in the Sports Center (formerly known as the Nordic Center). Rental AT gear is available on a first come, first served basis only

11:45am – Scavenger Hunt – Meet @ STE Tent – This is for teams of 2 so find a good shred buddy. The goal will be to take selfies around the mountain at some iconic Bolton Valley spots (and some low key ones). First team to finish with all the photos as proof gets $500 to the Ski The East webstore. Hunt starts at high noon.

2-5pm Long Trail will be pouring beer samples on the James Moore Tavern deck, in view of the park comp.

2:45pm – Retro Air Comp – Meet @ STE Tent. This is for the OG’s, the ones who remember the golden days of skiing. Come proper with retro gear and attire, and throw the biggest double twister spread you can (stretching is recommended). Modern day tricks will get you heckled. It’s a jam format (just roll though), only an hour long, and the winner will be announced immediately afterwards based on our own “strict” judging criteria. Winner gets $250 to the Ski The East webstore and a little something special from us at STE. “2nd place is the first loser” – Ricky Bobby.

4:20pm – Steinholding Competition – Meet @ Long Trail Tent (21+ event) on the tavern deck. Think you’re Popeye? Prove it. Winner gets $250 to the Ski The East webstore and a Mondo STE XL Beer Stein. Longest hold wins it all. Rules will probably be somewhat similar to this: http://www.ussteinholding.com/info/official-steinholding-rules

5pm – Après on the deck like it’s going out of style. Plenty of STE x LT Mountain IPAs for recovery.

7pm – Sunset Sesh – if you’re not at the top of Bolton for sundown, you’re blowin’ it.

9pm – Pontoon will be playing music in the James Moore Tavern. These local legends are coming in H-O-T. At Bolton Valley, just because lifts stop spinning at 10pm doesn’t mean the party has to stop. After midnight, we gonna let it all hang out!
