We are thrilled to announce the first Bolton Valley Mountain Race – something we hope to make an annual event. Just a 30 minute drive from many popular destinations in northern Vermont (including Burlington, Stowe, Montpelier and the Mad River Valley), this course designed by mountain local and running enthusiast Anthony Staples promises to challenge all runners and hikers during Vermont’s legendary foliage season. Scenic vistas and a kaleidoscope of color will greet you as you move up and down a combination of work roads, cross country trails, raw ski slope climbs and some of our newly built lift accessed mountain bike trails. Please note that several areas on this course are closed to foot traffic, but will be open for this event that morning.

Course Info: The planned course for this new Vermont mountain race was designed by mountain local Anthony Staples (and running enthusiast!) and ascends roughly 4,000ft over 20 kilometers. 3 Peaks Mountain Race – course route subject to change: https://www.strava.com/activities/7141519404

We pride ourselves on being one of the most family-friendly ski and mountain bike resorts in Vermont, and are committed to that mission with this new event, too! We are excited to offer a Bolton Mini Mountain Kids Race! Stay tuned for more details on that course design / length soon!

Please bear in mind there will be a cutoff time for racers to pass through the first two summits and Mountain Bike Park as we will be running lifts at 10am.

Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each of our 3 registration categories (Male, Female, Non-Binary) ages 12+. Racers 11 and under should join us at for the kids race that same day. More details on that part of the event still to come.

Please note, when registering for the race at UltraSignup online, they have default categories that do not reflect the categories we will be creating podiums for. Additionally, we are currently rounding up support from partners / sponsors. If you or an organization you know is interested in supporting this effort, please reach out to [email protected] and we’d be happy to share some more information around different levels of support.

Poles: You’ll be happy to have them in several places along the course.

Camping: You will be welcome to camp with us in the Main Base Area.

Food and Amenities: We of course have the slopeside hotel, but the race is scheduled during our busy foliage season, so there is a 2 night minimum and limited availability. Check hotel availability and book now.
