BOLTON VALLEY, VT (7/5/2018) –
Fifteen years ago, Bolton Valley was known for extreme, rugged, downhill mountain biking with steep, tight sections, technical bridges, big air, drops, roots, rocks, stumps and more. After over a decade of dormancy, the resort is bringing these monstrous trails back to life. To commemorate the revival, the Resort is holding the BV Mountain Bike Revival Party on Thursday, July 12 to get the word out and raise funds for the rehabilitation of the trail network.
“The revival of the mountain biking trails is a key part of our focus on bringing summer activities back to Bolton Valley.” said Vice President and COO Lindsay DesLauriers. “The local community of riders has been super enthusiastic and supportive of our plan and we are so excited to turn mountain biking back on at Bolton Valley – though riders be warned – our trails are not for the faint of heart.”
The work this summer will include establishing a solid uphill trail on the Wilderness section of the mountain, refurbishing and re-opening six of the original downhill trails and cleaning up and reshaping the old jump trail on lower Wilderness lift line. Plans to expand the system beyond these eight trails are in the works for future years and include building out the network so that riders of all ability levels will feel at home.
The BV Mountain Bike Revival Fundraiser will coincide with the Vermont Beer Pairing Pop-Up Series, which features a dinner prepared using products from local farms paired with popular beers from local breweries around the state. July 12 will feature the Alchemist Brewery, who is also a co-sponsor of the BV Mountain Bike Revival Party. The evening will include a raffle with some great prizes, the BV Mountain Biking Trail Map unveiling, plenty of hot off the presses BV Mountain Biking swag and more. All proceeds from the event, including all food & beverage sales and even any related hotel stays will go directly toward funding the trail build.
The trails will be opened to the public for free later this summer.
July 12 is also the kickoff for two other weekly events offered at the Resort. The Suffer Fest Bike Ride and Running Series will challenge bikers and runners to climb 2000 vertical feet over 4.5 miles from the Sugar Shack to the top of Vista. The Thursday Night Doubles Disc Golf League will provide a chance for disc golfers to win cash each week on the 18-hole Vista Beast disc golf course.
Bolton Valley offers 71 trails for alpine skiing and riding, over 1200 acres of high elevation backcountry terrain, 15km of groomed Nordic trails, a complete Sports Center plus Vermont’s most extensive top-to-bottom night skiing and riding.
