Introduction to Vertical Touring

intro to vert touring

Location: Bolton Valley
Dates: February 4th & 11th, 2018
Equipment: Alpine Touring, Heavy Duty Telemark, or Splitboard

This track is intended for expert level skiers and riders who are new to exploring the backcountry. Maybe you're considering investing in or have just purchased your first set of AT equipment or splitboard and are looking for some guidance on using it and playing safely and responsibly in the woods. This course will take the form of an instructional tour and will cover layering strategies, what it means to be prepared, navigation, efficient touring and uphill techniques, etc… We will NOT be teaching downhill ski and snowboard technique. If you are considering registering for this course you should be comfortable navigating black diamond level gladed terrain at a resort. At the end of the course you will be more comfortable using your equipment and making the transition from ski-to-hike, or hike-to-ski. You will also be more prepared to safely spend a full day in the backcountry.
