Bolton Valley offers mountain bike lessons, private coaching, group lessons, youth camps, and skills programs for riders of all ages and ability levels. Whether you’re new to downhill mountain biking and learning the basics in our beginner-friendly progression zone or looking to advance your skills on Vermont’s lift-served mountain bike trails, our experienced instructors can help you ride with greater confidence, control, and technique.
From first-time riders to seasoned mountain bikers, our lessons are designed to help you progress faster, stay safer on the trails, and get the most out of your day at Bolton Valley Bike Park. Group Lessons
(All products and offerings subject to change)
90 minute group lesson
$49 per person
- Learn basic riding how-tos including balance, shifting, and controlling speed with proper technique. Our expert coaches will also introduce riding protocol and safety. This is a great starting place for those who know how to ride a bike but have not spent much time biking on dirt.
- The lesson’s goal is to become more comfortable with basic skills when riding on dirt and going over small beginner features
- 101 Lessons will start at the Base Lounge Flats, where our coaches will run over the basics of Mountain Biking safety, braking, body position, and technique before loading Vista lift and heading to our flagship Gravity Logic built GREEN TRAIL Ebascootcha. Lift ticket required. Starter Pack available for $99 includes Half day Rental, Lesson and Ticket!
1.5 hours
$49 per person
- In this clinic, you will learn how to build upon the basic skills, such as navigating sharp corners and riding on loose dirt. This lesson is aimed at intermediate riders who are new to Bolton Valley terrain but confident on dirt trails.
- The lesson’s goal is to do one lift ride up and then get down the mountain safely.
- Required but not included: Full suspension bike, protective equipment (full face helmet, gloves, eyewear, elbow pads, knee/lower leg guards)
- Black Diamond Level riders should book a private lesson
Private Lessons
Private Lessons offered during lift operations only (Sat & Sun through June 23, Wednesday-Sunday June 26 to Labor Day, Fri to Sun after Labor Day to mid October)

1.5 Hour – Private: $99 (semi private: groups from 2-6 people)
Great for a few quick guided laps OR to build on a skill for any level rider. Personalize what you would like to learn in your lesson.
- All instruction will be on lift served downhill
- Required: bike, helmet, & lift ticket
3 hours – Private: $200 per person or semi private (2-6 people, $200 each)
- Take a tour and see what BV Bike Park has to offer with one of our knowledgeable guides. Need a few tips, our guides can offer professional coaching through out your half day of shred.
- Required: bike, helmet, & lift ticket
6 hours – Private: $300 per person or semi private (2-6 people, $300 each)
- 30 minute lunch break, lunch not provided
- Required: bike, helmet, & lift ticket
Important Tips to Know Before Your Lesson
- Bike and Lift Ticket Not Included in Lesson Price
- Please purchase a lift ticket (if you don’t already have a ticket or season pass) prior to the lesson.
- If you are renting a bike, show up at least 30 minutes before your lesson time.
- Please sign the BV waiver: Online coming soon. For now, please sign the waiver when you purchase a lift ticket.
- If you bring your own bike, please perform a bike check prior to arrival or bring it to our bike shop for an inspection.
- Meet 10 minutes ahead of your lesson time, in gear, and outside of the rental shop.
Cancellation Policy: Full payment refund minus $5 processing fee, or full mountain credit available if you request cancellation before 4 pm 48 hours prior to your lesson date. Mountain credit minus $20 processing fee if you request cancellation less than 48 hours in advance. No credit or refunds are available for no shows.
