Learn Our Terrain

Bolton Valley’s trained instructors and coaches offer a wide assortment of group and private lessons, programs and camps to suit all ages and ability levels. Whether ready to load lifts and charge our intermediate to advanced network of lift serviced downhill mountain bike trails or learning the basics in our progression zone, taking a lesson is the best way to get the most from your day.

Friendly reminder: for summer 2021, our lifts serve intermediate to advanced terrain only. Therefore introductory/beginner lessons will not ride the lift and will be conducted in our Progression Zone by the Sports Center.

Weekend Lesson Times: 10 am & 2 pm
Private Lessons only currently offered on weekdays (must be booked in advance – no walkup availability)

Group Lessons

(All products and offerings subject to change)

2 Hours
$60 per person

  • Learn basic riding how-tos including balance, shifting, and controlling speed with proper technique. Our expert coaches will also introduce riding protocol and safety. This is a great starting place for those who know how to ride a bike but have not spent much time biking on dirt.
  • The lesson’s goal is to become more comfortable with basic skills when riding on dirt and going over small beginner features.
  • Lessons will take place in the skills park in the main base area (near the Sports Center), so a lift ticket is not needed.

2.5 hours
$75 per person

  • In this clinic, you will learn how to build upon the basic skills, such as navigating sharp corners and riding on loose dirt. This lesson is aimed at intermediate riders who are new to Bolton Valley terrain but confident on dirt trails.
  • The lesson’s goal is to do one lift ride up and then get down the mountain safely. 
  • Required but not included: Full suspension bike, protective equipment (full face helmet, gloves, eyewear, elbow pads, knee/lower leg guards)
  • Black Diamond Level riders should book a private lesson 

Private & Semi-Private Lessons

1 Hour 

Solo Private: $75
OR
Semi Private: $75 for first person, $30 for each additional ( 4 people max per semi-private group)

  • Learn basic riding how-tos including balance, shifting, and controlling speed with proper technique. Our expert coaches will also introduce riding protocol and safety. This is a great starting place for those who have not spent much time biking on dirt. Our skills park offers features and terrain great for practicing new obstacles.
  • Instruction takes place only in the Skills Park because of time restrictions
  • Required but not included: Full suspension bike, bike haul ticket, protective equipment (full face helmet, gloves, eyewear, elbow pads, knee/lower leg guards

3 hours
Solo private: $200
OR
Semi-private: $200 for the first person, $75 for each additional (4 people max per semi-private group)

  • Required but not included: Full suspension bike, bike haul ticket, protective equipment (full face helmet, gloves, eyewear, elbow pads, knee/lower leg guards

6 hours
Solo Private: $300
OR
Semi-Private: $300 for the first person, $100 for each additional (4 people max per semi-private group) 

  • 30 minute lunch break, lunch not provided
  • Required but not included: Full suspension bike, bike haul ticket, protective equipment (full face helmet, gloves, eyewear, elbow pads, knee/lower leg guards)

Bike 3 hours
Solo Private: $225 
OR
Semi-private: $225 for the first person, $75 for each additional (4 people max per semi-private group).
Must book in advance.

  • Looking to elevate your current downhill ability or get into the racing scene? Schedule ahead with one of our freestyle coaches

Important Tips to Know Before Your Lesson

  • Bike and Lift Ticket Not Included in Lesson Price
  • Please purchase a lift ticket (you don’t already have a ticket or season pass) prior to the lesson.
  • If you are renting a bike, show up at least 30 minutes before your lesson time.
  • Please sign the BV waiver: Online coming soon. For now, please sign the waiver when you purchase a lift ticket.
  • If you bring your own bike, please perform a bike check prior to arrival or bring it to our bike shop for an inspection.
  • Meet 10 minutes ahead of your lesson time, in gear, and outside of the rental shop.

Cancellation Policy: Full refund available if you call (802)434-3444 before 4 pm 2 days prior to your lesson date. No credit or refunds are available for no shows or cancellation requests received within two days of the lesson date.
