Event Coordinator, Banquet Captain, Summer/Wedding Sales

Job Summary:  This is an updated position with a lot of room for growth.  The Event Coordinator will manage and execute on-site events throughout the year, assist the group sales manager with banquet ordering, set up and other operations, and help to build out our wedding program and summer group sales growth.

 

Essential Functions: 

  • Plan, market, and produce on mountain events.
  • Assist food and beverage department and marketing/sales department in facilitating operations / serving / set up / tear down of events and already booked groups on the books for this winter
  • Help build out our wedding program with assistance from sales and marketing department – this will include fielding inbound questions/interest and tabling at wedding expos this winter
  • Assist with marketing of our already robust steady events, groups and weddings business
  • Review third-party websites weekly for accurate Bolton Valley posting information of Bolton Valley happenings

 

NOTE:  All Bolton Valley employees are required to perform alternate functions from time to time, both within and outside of their assigned department, particularly during peak periods such as holiday weekends.

 

Customer Service Expectations: 

The main face to face customer contact is at the resort’s special events. Additional customer contact is via email in updates to event participants, and online through various other channels.  Employee is expected to be courteous and professional in accordance with Bolton’s commitment to providing superior customer service.

 

Qualifications:  Bachelor’s Degree and 1-3 years of event planning, marketing/sales and/or food service experience.  Wedding and/or catering experience also helpful.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:   

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience managing staff at an event
  • Ability to organize an event from the idea stage through completion
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel
  • Familiarity with content management systems for websites
  • Familiarity with social media and other third party websites.

 

Physical and Mental Demands:  May need to assist in some heavy lifting when setting up and tearing down event venues both on the mountain and in the lodge.

 

Work Environment:  Approximately 50% of work time is spent working at a computer, and the rest will be guest interaction and/or event execution.
