This is a Full-Time Year Round Position.

Job Summary:  The Food and Beverage Manager oversees all food and beverage operations at the resort, including the overall management of a deli, cafeteria, and restaurant facilities. Reports to Director of Hospitality to achieve overall resort goals

 

Essential Functions: 

 

  • Oversee a staff of approximately 45 food and beverage workers, with 3 direct managerial and supervisory reports, making appropriate hiring, firing and disciplinary decisions
  • Cultivate working relationships with food, alcohol and supply vendors
  • Place orders for food and supplies with food and drink vendors
  • Oversee the quality of food and drink products received by the resort prior to items being cooked and sold
  • Monitor and maintain high quality standards of prepared food and drinks sold to guests
  • Schedule work hours, or direct managers to do so
  • Create and adhere to budget, appropriately monitoring food and supply costs
  • Train staff, and oversee and support direct reports in their staff training efforts

Other Functions:

  • Occasional snow shoveling near the restaurant entrance

NOTE:  All Bolton Valley employees are required to perform alternate functions from time to time, both within and outside of their assigned department, particularly during peak periods such as holiday weekends.

Customer Service Expectations:  With extensive customer contact, must be helpful, friendly, courteous and professional in accordance with Bolton’s commitment to providing superior customer service.  Always looking to enhance the quality of a guest’s experience at the resort.  

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma
  • 3-4 years of work experience in the food service industry, with direct customer contact
  • 1-2 years of food service management experience preferred

Required Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Solid organizational and supervisory skills
  • Knowledge of food quality and safety issues
  • Knowledge of POS systems
  • Valid proof of DLC certification prior to employment, or willingness and ability to attend DLC certification course offered by the resort

Physical and Mental Demands:  Requires prolonged periods of standing and walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Some bending and squatting are required to move food and supplies.   Stress can result from the fast pace and heavy customer contact.

Work Environment:  The position involves some exposure to open flames and hot items, and the use of potentially hazardous sharp cutting utensils.  Most work is performed indoors, but some occasional outdoor work, such as snow shoveling, may be required.  Outdoor work is performed in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, wind and rain, on varied snow surfaces.
